Symphony of the City of New York has made several documentaries which it has shown as "introductions" to some of the unknown composers we regularly perform on our concerts.
This first documentary is about the life and music of the inimitable Russian female composer, Galina Ustvolskaya. It was first shown prior to our November, 2019 performance of Ustvolskaya's Piano Concerto. We are glad to make this documentary available free of charge to all interested people wishing to learn more about Ustvolskaya, or wanting to promote her musical legacy and further spread knowledge about Galina Ustvolskaya and her unique and powerful music.
The creation of this documentary was made possible in part by funding from Humanities New York with support from
the National Endowment for the Humanities. Any views, findings, conclusions or recommendations expressed
in this documentary do not necessarily represent those of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
